According to the Employment Service Statistics of the Ministry of Employment and the Economy, at the end of October the number of unemployed jobseekers registered at Employment and Economic Development Offices totalled 289 600, up 39,500 on the previous year.
At the end of October, unemployed jobseekers under 25 years of age numbered 36,400, representing an increase of 5,800 from October a year ago. For those over 50, this figure was 110,200, up 12,000 on the year before.
At the end of October, the number of long-term unemployed who had been unemployed without interruption for more than a year amounted to 78,200, up 15,800 on the previous year.
The number of foreign citizens among unemployed jobseekers totalled 25,200, up 5,000 from October a year ago. Of these foreign unemployed jobseekers, EU/EEA citizens accounted for 6,800 at the end of October, up 1,800 from the year before.
The number of new vacancies reported to Employment and Economic Development Offices during October totalled 34,400, or 800 less than October in the previous year. In all, the number of unfilled vacancies at Employment and Economic Development Offices amounted to 59,300 in October, which is 700 less than a year ago.
