According to the Employment Service Statistics of the Ministry of Employment and the Economy, at the end of March 2014 the number of unemployed jobseekers registered at Employment and Economic Development Offices totalled 315,700, up 28,700 on the previous year.
In March, 29,600 of unemployed jobseekers were fully laid-off. Since March 2013, the number of people fully laid off has increased by 4,900.
The number of new vacancies reported to Employment and Economic Development Offices during March totalled 46,500, or 2,200 less than March in the previous year. In all, the number of unfilled vacancies at Employment and Economic Development Offices amounted to 107,600 in March, down 200 on the previous year.
At the end of March, unemployed jobseekers under 25 years of age numbered 39,300, representing an increase
by 2,300 from March a year ago. For those over 50, this figure was 118,900, up 10,100 on the year before.
At the end of March, the number of long-term unemployed who had been unemployed without interruption for
more than a year amounted to 86,300, up 18,100 on the previous year.
The number of foreign citizens among unemployed jobseekers totalled 27,500, up 3,200 from March a year
ago. Of these foreign unemployed jobseekers, EU/EEA citizens accounted for 8,400 at the end of March, up
1,800 from the year before.
