Decrease in unemployed jobseekers in September

A total of 275,600 unemployed jobseekers were registered at the Employment and Economic Development Offices at the end of September. This was 53,900 fewer than a year earlier. The number of unemployed jobseekers was down by 13,200 from the previous month.

The number of new vacancies reported to Employment and Economic Development Offices during September totalled 49,600, or 2,600 more than in September the previous year. In all, the number of unfilled vacancies at Employment and Economic Development Offices in September amounted to 91,000, which was 8,700 more than a year ago.

According to the Labour Force Survey issued by Statistics Finland, in September the number of people in employment was up 2,000 on the previous year. The employment rate was 69.3%, which was 0.1 percentage points higher than in September the year before. The unemployment rate was 8.0%, or 0.3 percentage points higher than the previous year.
