Subsidy for arranging working conditions
The employer may apply for a subsidy for arranging working conditions when a person’s disability or illness affects employment or the capability to keep a position.
The purpose of the subsidy for arranging working conditions is to support the employer if the company must procure work equipment or make alterations at the work place because of a disability or illness of a person hired for a position or a person who already holds a position in the company, and the costs caused by the procurement or alterations are remarkable considering the employer’s financial situation.
A subsidy for arranging working conditions may also be granted to compensate for the assistance provided by another employee.
The subsidy improves the chances of partially disabled people to find suitable employment or to keep their job in the open labour market.
A subsidy for arranging working conditions is applied from the TE Office whose area of operation the work place is located in. The subsidy is applied for with the TE Office’s form TEM6.85 ‘Application for a subsidy for arranging working conditions’.
If the subsidy is applied for an alternation or the procurement of work equipment/furniture, it must be applied for within a month from the performance of the alteration or the procurement of the equipment or furniture. The subsidy granted for assistance provided by another employee is paid monthly retrospectively on the basis of the realised time spent for providing assistance. The application for payment for the assistance provided by another employee must be delivered to the TE Office within two months from the end of the payment period.

A subsidy for arranging working conditions may be granted to an employer regardless of their legal form.
The subsidy is discretionary. The Employment and Economic Development Office (TE Office) assesses the appropriateness of the subsidy for arranging working conditions on the basis of the disadvantage caused by the disability or illness. The assessment also considers the employer’s financial situation. The employer must deliver to the TE Office sufficient information for the assessment of the need for the subsidy.
A prerequisite for granting the arrangement subsidy for alterations due to a disability or an illness of an employee who has an employment or another service relationship to the company is that the employer participates in covering the costs with a reasonable sum.
The maximum amount of subsidy for the procurement of work equipment or making alterations is EUR 4,000 per person. The TE Office may grant the subsidy to be paid completely or partially in advance. The TE Office may grant a subsidy for assistance provided by another employee for a maximum of 20 hours a month for a period of 18 months. The amount of the subsidy is EUR 20 per hour, and it is paid on the basis of the realised time spent for providing assistance.
