What to do if you are laid off

17/03/2020

As a result of the Corona virus, lay-offs may be possible. Lay-offs may be due to travel restrictions, reduced consumption or a significant part of the work community being quarantined.

The employer must give notice of the lay-off 14 days before the start of the lay-off.

If you are laid off, register as an unemployed jobseeker in the E-services on the very first day you are laid off.

Apply for earnings-related daily allowance from your unemployment fund's e-service two weeks after the start of the lay-off. If your lay-off is for a temporary period, apply for a daily allowance immediately after the last lay-off date.
